Hugely influential on the dance and electronic music that came after them, Yello also have the distinction of being the best band ever from Switzerland.

Operating between pop, dance and a deliciously self-aware kind of avant-garde, Yello paralleled the artful-yet-playful moves of New York’s Ze Records, while also evoking an elegant European sensibility.

The fourth studio album by the Swiss electronic band Yello, “Stella”, was first released in 1985. It was the band’s breakthrough album internationally, helped by the success of the song “Oh Yeah”, which gained the band worldwide attention the following year after it was prominently featured in the 1985 era-defining film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

At the time of recording, Boris Blank and Dieter Meier began to move away from experimental electronic sounds towards a more commercial Synth Pop and cinematic soundtrack style.

This limited edition reissue of the album also includes a green coloured vinyl 12″ featuring “Desire” on Side 1 and “Oh Yeah” on Side 2.
