Doolittle is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band Pixies, released in April 1989 on 4AD. Doolittle was the Pixies’ first international release, with Elektra Records as the album’s distributor in the United States and PolyGram in Canada. Vocalist Black Francis’ lyrics invoke biblical violence, surrealist imagery, and contain descriptions of torture and death, while the album is often praised for the quite/loud dynamic set up between Black’s vocals, Joey Santiago’s guitar and the rhythm section. “Doolittle” is considered one of the quintessential albums of the 1980s, and has sold consistently since its release.
